New Global University Rankings Dominated by the US

By: Sami Haidar
A new report from the Center for World University Rankings decisively exhibited the preeminence of American higher education. Out of the top 20 universities ranked, 15 were from the US – with Harvard, Stanford and MIT all placing in the top 3. Japan and the United Kingdom were also represented in the Top 20, each with two universities. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich was the only representative for all of continental Europe. Canada, Australia, India and China were all notable absences from the Top 20 rankings. The report, published annually, uses eight factors to determine rankings: quality of education, alumni employment, influence, citations, broad impact, patents, publications and quality of faculty.
In a further triumph for the American education system, the US Team took First Prize at the International Mathematical Olympiad held in Thailand. All of this is of course good news for the EB-5 program, as the foremost reason for investing for many of the applicants is US education.
